For most car owners, rust, dust and grease are plagues best left to mechanics. For DIY enthusiasts of old-school hot rods, those things indicate a fun challenge. Gear up for the Kowtown Custom Greaserama this weekend at the Boulevard Drive-In (1051 Merriam Lane, in Kansas City, Kansas). Today and Sunday, the show celebrates custom cars built before 1965 and lowriders, modified trucks, wagons and commercial vehicles predating 1975, as well as other nostalgic motor-powered conveyances. In addition to model display tents, valve-cover racing and other activities, spectators can take advantage of the venue's inherent screening capabilities. Movies scheduled: The Wild One, Two-Lane Blacktop and Repo Man. The event runs from noon to 2 a.m. both days. Admission costs $10 a day for adults and is free for children younger than 12. Or get a two-day and two-night pass for $15. Movie watchers can arrive after dusk for $7 either night. For more information, see greaserama.com or call 913-831-2694.
Tue., Sept. 30, noon-2 a.m.; Wed., Oct. 1, noon-2 a.m., 2008
