A Slugger Returns

By David Martin

Published on July 31, 2008

Summer is the season for reruns. In the same week when Josh Wolff returned to the Kansas City Wizards after two seasons in Europe, the Kansas City T-Bones welcomed back one of their most prodigious sluggers. Outfielder Greg Jacobs, who hit 25 home runs as a T-Bone in 2005 and 2006, rejoined the team July 15 after being released by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jacobs managed to crack only four home runs in 62 games while toiling for the Dodgers' AA and AAA teams. Back in the Northern League, the 32-year-old has rediscovered his power-hitting form. In his first week with the T-Bones, Jacobs hit .538 with two home runs and 10 RBIs. Jacobs and his T-Bones teammates face the Gary Southshore RailCats at 7:05 p.m. at CommunityAmerica Ballpark (1800 Village West Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas, 913-328-5600).
Aug. 1-2, 7:05 p.m.; Sun., Aug. 3, 5:05 p.m., 2008
