Barbecue for Choice

By Crystal K. Wiebe

Published on July 10, 2008

Wanna show your support for women's reproductive rights over a game of badminton? Head to the Loose Park Pavilion (51st Street and Wornall) for the KC On Target BBQ. Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri's annual outdoor picnic honors the efforts of the organization and sympathetic legislators. "This year is a great celebration because we didn't have any anti-choice legislation passed in Kansas or Missouri," says Planned Parenthood organizer Victoria Pickering. Some thanks for that go to Kansas Rep. Gene Rardin and Missouri Sen. Jolie Justus, who will be recognized at 6:30 p.m. The mingling begins at 5:30. If you didn't buy a ticket in advance through ppkm.org, just bring $15 for a single ticket or $25 for two.
