Fantasy Fracas

Gamers get a lot of guff for spending their free time inert. Yeah, World of Warcraft, Magic: The Gathering and other games can be entertaining, but they generally don't involve cardio or sunlight. That's where Dagorhir comes in. Dagorhir is like an outdoor adventure smoothie: Take the physical activities of sports and martial arts, combine them with fantasy role-playing, and a new kind of outdoor escapade is born. Just don't call it LARPing (live-action role-playing) or cosplay ("costume play," usually associated with dressing like anime or video-game characters); spectators won't find spell books or Sailor Moon costumes here. Join the fray today at Lyonesse Dagorhir at Shawnee Mission Park (7900 Renner Road in Shawnee). The Lyonesse group consists of local Dagorhir participants who battle each Sunday from around 2:30 p.m. until sundown. For more information, see lyonesserealm.com.
