Dog Day Morning

Chances are, more important things seem to override your good intentions to work out, like, say, triple-margarita hangovers. But throw in the benefit of tiring out your mutt at today's Dog-n-Jog, and even last night's tequila sidecars shouldn't keep you in bed. About 1,500 people and 1,000 dogs are expected to run or walk one or two miles through the Plaza for the 21st-annual event, which begins at the corner of Central and Ward Parkway. The Humane Society of Kansas City expects to raise $55,000, which keeps the place in business for two months. Runners can also put their pooches through agility classes or enter them in cutest-dog and best-costume contests. The two-mile run begins at 8 a.m., but late sleepers can catch the one-mile walk at 9:30 a.m. Registration costs $25, unless you waited until today, when it goes up to $35. Call 913-596-1000 for more info.
